Rwanda Abangakurushwa – whole roasted bean
All of the coffee grown in Rwanda is Arabica, with the vast majority of it being a variety of Bourbon. Coffee growing is exclusively the preserve of small-scale farmers and the majority of farms are family owned and less than one quarter of a hectare in size. Abangakurushua comes from the name of the co-operative who grow and process the coffee beans. These smallholders have clubbed together for better working conditions and prosperity. The co-operative has more than 100 members and has brought increased prosperity to many ordinary Rwandans.
